For over eleven years, I have had the opportunity to partner and collaborate with WorkSource Atlanta, formerly known as Atlanta Workforce Development Agency, to create and deliver over 30 job readiness programs to over 3,000 Atlanta At-Risk high school students.  These educational sessions were designed to help the students obtain summer internships with companies within the City of Atlanta. I, along  with hundreds of volunteers from the human resources community, facilitated classes including Ethics, Communications, Dress for the Workplace, and Interview Skills.  We also supported the students with developing a professional resume and cover letter to use for their job search.

Because of our support, all students landed summer jobs to continue developing their workplace skills. Furthermore, the companies that hired the students shared that they were very pleased that the students possessed the essential workplace skills to perform successfully in their jobs.

I learned so much over the years by helping WorkSource Atlanta build programs to support students with achieving a brighter future. Despite the challenges that they faced at home, we were able to help make a difference in their lives. Furthermore, we were able to make a different in our communities by developing students to land jobs within their local communities. This is the type of work that I can do for our New City of South Fulton.

Do you think that our New City in South Fulton can use a program like this support our youth land jobs? Reply to this post with comments.
